Here we go with our link for today: http://indiancurrentaffairs.blogspot.com/2009/01/24012009.html
In today's briefing:
1. Our beloved PM is undergoing heart surgery today. Let us wish him speedy recovery.
2. CPM faces music from CBI. Remember the SNC-Lavalin controversy?
3. Watchdogs or bloodhounds? What should auditors be first?
4. India derives lot of pleasure from Obama's statements on Pakistan; at least initially. Coupled with the drone attacks that have reportedly killed about 20 or so terrorists on Pakistani soil in the north-west, this makes good news.
5. India's economy is slowing down; no doubt about it. Witness the frenzied pace of deals offered by all and sundry in the markets! I think India Inc is really getting jittery.
6. Vodafone's claims about its Essar deal being out of bounds for Indian IT authorities, get jettisoned by the Supreme Court.
7. RIL too is impacted by the global slowdown. It is not able to pull rabbits out of its hat. :(
8. As I am reading an excellent book from Tim Hindle, I give you a bit of wisdom from that book about some management concepts. Today, it is about active inertia, fuzzy vision and active waiting. We owe our thanks to The Economist for sending me the book.
That's it for today. Happy reading.
Ramakrishna
