[Indian Current Affairs:718] Current affairs briefing for 6th January, 2009

Hi friends,

I couldn't send you my mail yesterday because I was too busy.

In today's briefing:

1.  India goes shopping for maritime reconnaissance aircraft from US.  Remember the phrase "knee-jerk reaction"?  This purchase is one that falls into that kind of category.

2.  Copyright Act to be tightened to make even piracy for individual use punishable.

3.  SingTel is the most valued MNC in India.

4.  What should the private sector do to help the country face the current downturn?  Have any ideas?  Today's article that appeared in ET is a must read.

5.  One more important issue is oil price.  Why is that crude prices are falling?  Do you have any better explanation?

6.  Now chilli powder to scare away elephants.

That's it for today.  Happy reading.
