In today's briefing:

1.  INSAT - 4 CR successfully launched.  Now that we have notched up more successes than failures in space programs, can you recall our failures?  Take a look.  Then, what is a three stage rocket?

2.  Ethanol blending may be made mandatory from October 2007.  But what precautions are needed for it?

3.  What is the RIL-NTPC dispute about gas pricing?

4.  CCI (Competition Commission of India) to raise the bar on bank mergers.  Read yesterday's notes to understand this issue fully.

5.  Exit tax on IIT and IIM students.  Are we retrograde or are we aping somebody?

6.  Subprime and Indian Economy are my favourite subjects.  Can the subprime crisis hit our economy?  Look at an expert's point of view.

7.  How has China raced ahead of India in agriculture, though both of them were at the same level some 25 years ago?  An excellent article appeared in today's Hindu.  Take a look.

8.  What is the party that rules Russia?  Can you tell me the name?

That's all folks for today.

IMPORTANT Announcement:  I am leaving town on some personal work and will be touring North India this whole week.  Expected back by Sunday only.  So it will be rest for me and all of you.

I will try my best to access the net to open our quiz contest by Saturday.  Even if there is a delay, do bear with me.  I will surely open the contest by Sunday.

All the best.  Have a great week.

Ramakrishna
