In today's briefing:

1.  I faintly remember some of you quizzing me about mutual funds.  Take a look at close ended and open ended funds.

2.  We have all been hearing about the $420 bn infrastructure funding requirement for the 11th Plan; right?  It somehow got transormed itself into a $492 bn requirement along the way.  And they are afraid that there will be a shortage of $39 loan component in that.

3.  When did Twenty20 cricket originate?

4.  More about the fed rate cut and how Milton Friedman could have frowned or laughed away the monetary measure being unleased by the US federal reserve.  Along the way we look at the basic definitions relating to GDP, Real GDP and Nominal GDP.

5.  Why should it bother if the long term interest rates are lower?  At this juncture in the US?  Let us try to understand some basics about it.  What exactly is a recession?

6.  I am sure you would have heard about there being two types of diabetes.  Which is which?

7.  India's Oscar aspirations this year are being championed by...???

8.  Magna Carta up for sale!!!

9.  How many rovers are roaming on Mars right now?  Can you recollect their names?  What is Phoenix about?

That's all for today friends.  Happy reading.

Ramakrishna

PS:  I am experimenting with some new method of giving you a better grip on current affairs related concepts.  Watch out for the next couple of days.  Let me know your comments.
