Current affairs briefing for 14th August, 2007

Hi friends,

I am encouraged by the registrations for the Quiz Contest.  If you have not yet registered for the contest, don't delay.  Register.  Take the mock contest of 5 questions that is given there.  Prepare well by following the " Today's Quiz" database.  Dig deep into the Indian Current Affairs and Discover It blogs and be ready for the final contest.

Tomorrow being a holiday, I am in the mood to relax.  Take a look at these posts on Time Pass:

Back to our regular serious stuff:  http://indiancurrentaffairs.blogspot.com/2007/08/14082007.html

1.  Is the big bad retail knocking out the mom and pop stores?

2.  Ever heard of Ray Charles?  A program is being organized in India for the first time.  It is about Soul music.

3.  What do you know about the policy relating to airlines' flying to international destinations from India?

4.  Can you say something about the dual support pricing system relating to sugar cane?

5.  Why is Article 153-A of the Indian Penal Code in the news recently?

6.  Ever heard about the Sodhani Committee Report?  What was that about?

7.  Can you cite an example showing that the recent economic growth being recorded by the country is not a 'flash in the pan' performance?

8.  What is a bridge loan?

9.  Recent research shows that Indians knew something about Calculus much before Newton did.

10.  Sports:  Tennis, Cricket and Golf.  All these have seen some interesting action in the past couple of days.  So something for our record.

That's all for today.  Happy reading.
