Current affairs briefing for 13th May, 2008

Hi friends,

Here is our link for today:

http://indiancurrentaffairs.blogspot.com/2008/05/13052008.html

In today's briefing:

1.  In the ongoing round of WTO talks there is lot of debate about 'special products' and 'sensitive products'.  Do you know the difference?  Even after reading today's article about it for a couple of times, I was left wondering about the nuances involved.  I tried my best to bring some clarity to myself on it.  Tell me whether my understanding of it is right.

2.  On horticulture production in our country.  Some interesting stats.

3.  Ever heard of a Secretary for Overseas Indian Affairs?  I am surprised that there is such a post existing.  But he gave some interesting facts and figures about our non-resident people.

4.  I give you a link to the stats revealed by ASER.  What does it stand for?  Guess.

5.  Why should USA understand Asia better?  What can happen if it doesn't do so?  Who loses?

6.  IIP figures are depressing.  A growth of just 3%.

That's it for now.  Happy reading.
