[Indian Current Affairs:654] Current affairs briefing for 17th October, 2008

Hi friends,

Here is our link for today: http://indiancurrentaffairs.blogspot.com/2008/10/17102008.html

In today's briefing:

1.  Dramatic headlines today.  Jet recalls its retrenchment decision, even as Air India is reportedly contemplating a voluntary leave scheme for 15000 of its employees.

2.  Ranbaxy promoters are not shown any favour by the SEBI in their block deal effort with Daiichi Sankyo.  They may end up paying Rs. 1000 crore as capital gains tax.

3.  RBI staff will be on strike on October, 21.  Why?

4.  India-Sri Lanka CEPA on the back burner.

5.  An interesting digression: to organic farming and compost making.  Know anything about Indore process?

6.  Some titbits about Internet crime.

That's it for today.  Happy reading.
