Hi friends,
Here is our link for today:
http://indiancurrentaffairs.blogspot.com/2008/10/16102008.html
In today's briefing:
1. Look at the measures unveiled by the RBI and the Government to infuse liquidity and confidence into the Indian financial system. But it came a little too late in the day to contain the restlessness in the stock markets. Even as I am writing this to you the Sensex was hovering around 10,100+ today.
2. A very good graphic that shows how US Fed's bailouts in history created lasting legacies.
3. Oil touches new 13 month lows in world markets. This is good news for us.
4. SEBI looks with a lens at the P-Note stock lending practice.
5. Jet Airlines fires 1900 employees and invites the wrath of MNS and the Left parties.
6. Goa is in the news nowadays for the wrong reasons.
7. Govt. establishes a panel for looking Press Note 1 disputes.
8. Arvind Adiga wins the Booker for 2008. He is the fifth Indian to win a Booker. Remember the others? And for what?
Happy reading. Good day.
