[Indian Current Affairs:851] Current affairs briefing for August 13, 2009

Hi friends,

In today's briefing:

1.  CPM toes China line as expected.  Where is their patriotism gone?

2.  Is there something wrong with the way we are breezing ahead with the FTAs with many countries?  Is some caution in order?

3.  Some salient features of the new Direct Taxes Code that is proposed to be ushered in from 2011.

4.  IIP numbers show encouraging signs.

5.  News from corporate hiring too adds to the cheer.

6.  What problems are plaguing the India - US BIPA?

7.  Global confidence too is surging.

8.  Language lessons:  grandfathered, fable, satire, allegory, metaphor, gripe, masque, cower.

That's enough for today.  Happy reading.

From tomorrow we have a very long week end.  We don't know how far we keep the blog updated during the ensuing three days.  If it can be updated, feel lucky.  Otherwise, too feel lucky and enjoy the holidays.
