[Indian Current Affairs:758] Current affairs briefing for 24th February, 2009

Hi friends,

In today's briefing:

1.  Will India ever get a chance to express its choice through a negative vote?  The issue hangs fire now with a constitutional bench of our Supreme Court.

2.  Local problems need local solutions; not global ones.  This is an oft heard saying nowadays.  More on this in an op-ed piece.

3.  Know the incidence of indirect taxation in India?

4.  If you are asked to state some of the ill-effects of protectionism; will your answer match the one that appeared today in an op-ed piece?

5.  We catch up with the remaining Oscars.  In fact we do a recap of all.

6.  What is the "Golden Pound Principle"?

7.  Some very good language lessons:  chutzpah, doggone, joie de vivre

That's enough for today.  Happy reading.
