Current affairs briefing for 1st October, 2007

Hi friends,

I have become very very busy of late with my office work.  That's why you should have noticed that the postings are happening a bit late -- not the usual lunch time, that I set out to do in the beginning.  I think this lag is tolerable.

Here we go with our link for today:

In today's briefing:

1.  We a new Chief of Army Staff.

2.  Ever wondered what is actually meant by 'regulation'?  I did initially when I joined the present job.  Take a look; it is interesting.

3.  Our chartered accountants are in great demand now.  They are being lured by foreign postings.

4.  I know we have covered quite a bit about Duty Drawback and DEPB schemes earlier in our blogs.  But a quick recap of their definitions today again.

5.  Airport storage fee has importers up in arms.  Look who is responsible!!!  BTW what is dwell time?

6.  What made Rolls Royce look at India seriously?  Take a look.  Not that you will be asked to reel out these things.  But it would do you a lot good to comprehend why India is becoming a hot destination.  Very useful at interview stage.

7.  What are sovereign funds?

8.  UN Convention for Disabled.  Know anything about it?

9.  A recap of Chernobyl incident.  In the context of it getting a new shelter.

10.  Lot of sporting action results for our keeps.  Grand Prix, Chess, Marathon, Tennis etc.

That's all for today folks.  Happy reading.
