In today's briefing:

1.  RBI is favouring curbs on PE and PNs now.  Eventhough the Tarapore committee recommended a ban on PNs a year ago, government did not accept that recommendation.

2.  SR Bommai is no more.  He should be remembered for the Supreme Court's ruling on floor test.

3.  Microsoft IT and dogfooding!!  What a curious way of naming things?

4.  Staggered hiring; what does it mean?

5.  Nobel for Chemistry announced.

6.  GCMMF to acquire stake in Vanilco.

7.  Private luxury trains may be allowed now.

8.  FMC is going to allow aggregators in a bid to benefit farmers.

9.  ICICI Bank is bullish on Private Banking.  But what is it?

10.  Some good arguments in favour of allowing organized retail.  Very good from interview point.

11.  SBI to merge all its associate banks with itself.  Look at their business size?  But do you know they are still small fry, compared with international banks?

12.  Lastly something about space science.  Gamma ray observatory.

That's all for today.  Happy reading.
