[Indian Current Affairs:864] Current affairs briefing for 22nd September, 2009

Hi friends,

In today's briefing:

1.  IRDA uses technology to ensure vehicles are insured.

2.  Similarly AP Government also uses technology to keep tabs on NREGA works.  It gets lauded by the CAG for the effort.

3.  Bharti sweetens the MTN merger deal.  South Africa remains unimpressed.  Incidentally why or how is the SA government coming to have a greater say in the deal?

4.  Sub-PLR lending may be a thing of the past.  If all goes well.

5.  India not too keen to allow foreign banks spread their wings.

6.  Some well written thoughts on disinvestment.

7.  Santhanam sticks to his guns.  Says 1998 tests did not yield the desired results.

8.  Karpov and Kasparov to play exhibition match.

9.  Language lessons: kerfuffle, go to the dogs, double entendre.

That's it for today.  Happy reading.
