[Indian Current Affairs:602] Current affairs briefing for 16th Aug, 2008

Hi friends,

I was away due to some serious medical condition in my family and couldn't blog for about 4 days.  I am just back.  And here we go with our link for the day:

http://indiancurrentaffairs.blogspot.com/2008/08/16082008.html

In today's briefing:

1.  Akhil Kumar is our next big hope for Olympics.  What is the sport he represents?

2.  Language lessons: watershed

3.  Kingfisher applies for offering mobile services on board.  We recap physics concepts like joule, newton etc., along the way.

4.  Which is perhaps the only country that has a former PM as its employee?

5.  When do you say the global economy is in recession?  Look at economists, IMF's and Morgan Stanley's perception.

6.  I place a lot of premium on a degree from Harvard.  Ofcourse, so do almost all of you.  But does it gaurantee a job?  If you read today's story, you will be left pondering over this.

7.  COCO?

8.  Encouraging FDI inflows.

9.  Yet another excellent article on financial inclusion.  BTW know the name of the book authored by Md. Yunus?  Don't ask me who is this Md. Yunus; will you?  He is the Nobel laureate from Bangladesh who had done pioneering work in financial inclusion.

That's about it today.  Happy reading.
