Current affairs briefing for 19th April, 2008

Hi friends,

I am back from my trip today morning.  Here goes our link for today:

http://indiancurrentaffairs.blogspot.com/2008/04/19042008.html

In today's briefing:

1.  A look at where the world trade growth is going.

2.  Is the Government's move to monitor a hundred radio and TV channels worth the effort?  Are we going back to a Stalinist Russia?

3.  Remember the coal to oil concept?  Two interesting issues relating to this.

4.  RBI hikes CRR.  How much does it suck away from the system?  Will be a case of too little too late?  Or is it just the beginning?  No way to guess.  Guv Reddy is a shrewed man who plays his card well.

5.  What are the differences between the characteristics of growth in East Asian economies and the BRIC countries?  Any guess?

6.  Some good info about IFRS adoption in India.

That's it for today.  Happy reading.
