Dec11Tuesday An Evening with Mukhtar Mai. Building Schools of Hope Fundraiser. Mukhtar Mai was an "honor victim," raped to preserve the honor of a tribe which felt violated by Mukhtar’s brother Shakoor’s alleged relationship with a woman from their tribe. Mukhtar Mai, with the help of the local religious leader and her family filed rape charges, a rare and bold move. She is now committed to building a girls’ high school in her village of Meerwala, and the event will help raise funds for this cause. Receive signed copies of her book with dinner.
